Who We Are:

The Georgia Chapter of the Wilson High School Alumni Association was started in 2008 by Samuel Mitchell and Shirley Robinson-Ball. The Chapter was formally recognized in 2008 as a new Alumni Chapter during the Florence, SC (Parent) Chapter of the Wilson High School Alumni Association’s Summer Reunion Gala held in Myrtle Beach, SC.

The Georgia Chapter’s first major alumni event was in support of the Florence, SC (Parent) Chapter’s first annual summer reunion gala held in Atlanta, GA. The Georgia Chapter assisted the Florence, SC (Parent) Chapter in planning and hosting the three-day event, which was held at the Evergreen Marriott Conference Stone Mountain Resort from July 17^th to 19^th, 2009. On July 18, 2009, the Georgia Chapter received its official Charter from the Parent Chapter. Samuel Mitchell served as the President and Shirley Robinson-Ball served as the Vice President. As a result of his hard work and dedicated support to Wilson High School and the Alumni Association, Samuel Mitchell was inducted into the Wilson High School Hall of Fame on October 8, 2023.

The Georgia Chapter hosted its first Wilson High School Alumni Association Summer Reunion Gala as a charter Chapter from July 17^th to 19^th, 2015. The event was held at the Hyatt Regency, Atlanta Perimeter at Villa Christina, and over 150 Wilson Alumni attended the celebration. Samuel Mitchell served as the President and Shirley Robinson-Ball served as the Vice President.

Through the hard work and dedication of two Chapter members, Juanita Mitchell and Eric Johnson, the Georgia Chapter became a Georgia licensed Non-Profit, 501c3 Certified Corporation on March 23, 2023. The following individuals currently serve as the primary elected officials: Samuel Mitchell - Chairman of the Board; Eric Johnson - Executive Director; Lorenzo Robinson – Secretary; Earlene Tyus – Treasurer; Juanita Mitchell - Governance Committee Chairperson; Roberta Carroway – Communication & Public Relations Committee Chairperson; Carla Hawkins – Financial Committee Chairperson; and Lisa Harvey-Mosby – Membership Committee Chairperson.

The Georgia Chapter hosted its second Wilson High School Alumni Association Summer Gala from August 4^th to 6^th, 2023. The event was held at the Hyatt Regency, Atlanta Perimeter at Villa Christina, over 200 Wilson Alumni attended the celebration. Samuel Mitchell served as the President and Maxine Johnson served as the Vice President.

The Georgia Chapter continued to support Wilson High School and the Alumni Association through the years, providing scholarships to Wilson High School students and by making monetary donations to Wilson High School and the Florence, SC Alumni Association.
